Meine Tätigkeiten als Vorsitzende im Behindertenbeirat: Barrierefreier Stadtspaziergang

My activities as chair of the Disability Advisory Board: Accessible city walk

“Accessibility begins with the little things – and is never irrelevant.”

Did you know that I, Christin, am also very involved in volunteer work for inclusion in addition to Joni Studio?

As chair of the Disability Advisory Board of my city, I invited city council employees, municipal council, mayor, civil engineering, the press and SWR1 radio to a special city walk this week. invited.

We didn’t just want to talk about barriers – this time we wanted to make them tangible.
With borrowed wheelchairs. With simulation glasses that make visual impairments tangible. And with people who were willing to engage in this experience.

What quickly became clear:
A curb becomes a hurdle.
A missing guide strip makes you disorientated.
A construction site fence becomes a tripping hazard.
And suddenly you are dependent on outside help – just to cross the street safely.

Accessibility isn't an option. It's necessary. It's a human right.

This conviction accompanies me not only in my voluntary work, but also in my professional life:
Not only am I the chair of the Disability Advisory Board, but I am also the co-founder of Joni Studio with Marie.

Barriers don’t just exist in public spaces – they can also be found in clothing.

For example, in a zipper that cannot be closed with just one hand.
Or in buttons that are simply impossible to handle with fine motor skills.

That's why we developed jackets with magnetic closures :
✔ very easy to use
✔ Can be closed with one hand
✔ Dress and undress independently
✔ Made for people with and without disabilities – and for all those who love practicality

Our vision: Fashion that excludes no one.

Because real inclusion doesn’t start with the ramp – but with the attitude.
